Start Point – Northam

Northam, the start point, is a substantial country town with a population of 6,000 located approximately 1 ½ hour’s drive out of Perth. The town has a major shopping centre Target store, pharmacy and even a bike shop.

Book accommodation in Northam well in advance if you want to avoid waking up very early. For those wishing to stay overnight in Northam, there are several options to choose from including The Northam Motel, The Avon Bridge Hotel, Fitzgeralds Hotel, Shamrock Hotel, the Northam Tavern and several B&Bs.

Hot meals can be obtained from most of the hotels together with a variety of restaurants / cafes including the Riversedge Café, Macau Chinese Restaurant, and @Rice, Noodle & Sushi.

Ample parking is available at the start point alongside the swimming pool next to Mitchell Avenue. Toilets will be provided near the start.

At each checkpoint basic supplies are provided only; the primary responsibility for the provision of sustenance lies with the support team. Some of the checkpoints are located in remote areas or small towns where limited services are available, these being shown below. It is advisable to plan and obtain the required supplies before hand.


Checkpoint 1 – Bakers Hill

Ample parking is available in a car park adjacent to the track where the checkpoint is located. The small park incorporates a barbecue and three picnic tables together with toilets.

The Managers Tearooms, which is located on the opposite side of the track, serves drinks, ice creams and light meals. They also have rooms to rent so you can stay overnight if you want.   Bakers Hill also has a tavern, bakery and cafe.


Checkpoint 2 – Wooroloo

Ample parking is available in the car park adjacent to the checkpoint.  A shelter with picnic tables and toilet block are located here.


Checkpoint 3 – Chidlow

Ample parking is available around the football field and across the road adjacent to the park.

Essential supplies can be purchased at a small shopping centre located in Chidlow about 1 kilometer from the checkpoint and hot meal can be obtained from the Chidlow Tavern located at the corner of Northcote Street and Rosedale Road.

Mt Helena, which the track runs right past, has a Tavern.


Checkpoint 4 – Parkerville

Limited parking is available at the road crossing where the checkpoint is located.

An nice cafe is located just up the road.  No toilets are available at this location.


Finish – Swan View Railway Station

Limited parking is available at the checkpoint.

The Swan View Railway Station is located about 6 km from the Midland town Centre.

The Swan View Shopping Centre, which has a Coles Supermarket, is located about 1.5 kilometres away
